What You Need to Know

WHO

Who may Attend the Commencement Ceremony and Grand March?
All potential graduates in good academic and behavioral standing, as well as their guests.  Keep in mind that seating in the Revolution Arena is tight.  If you have special seating needs contact the staff at Revolution Place.

Who can I talk with if I want more information?

WHAT

What can I Expect when I Arrive?
Seating is first come first served, so it is best to arrive before the start time of the event.  The wonderful GPCHS staff volunteers will take your ticket as you enter the doors.  Grads will assemble in the Bowes Family Crystal Gardens and guests can find a seat in the arena.

What should I Bring?
- Your ticket
- A camera to capture the moments and the memories (please note that there will be a professional photographer to take photos of the grads as they cross the stage and guests are asked to remain in the seets during the ceremony)
- Your patience.  We have many graduates so the ceremony can be long but we want to honour all students as they cross the stage

What am I not Permitted Bring?
Please do not bring alcohol; outside food or drink; coolers, large bags or baby strollers that will block the aisles; noisemakers; confetti or helium balloons

WHY

Why does the Composite High hold a Commencement Ceremony?
Commencement means beginning and it refers to the beginning of life outside high school.  It is an exciting time of possibilities for grads.  We hold a commencement ceremony to honour the work that students did while at the Comp and to send them off with best wishes.

Why Should I Attend Commencement?
Your attendance at commencement shows your support of the community of learners who are venturing into the unknown.  Your presence is an acknowledgement of their success and your commitment to supporting them as they find their way in this world.

Why can't I find the information I'm looking for?
We try to put as much relevant information on this site as we can but inevitably something will escape us.  Please visit our Contacts page to email one of our teacher volunteers to have your question answered.

How do I Purchase Tickets?
Tickets are obtained from the Grande Prairie Composite High School main office.  You can purchase in person or over the phone.

How Should Guests Dress?
There is no dress code for either of the events but the whole day seems more magical if everyone dresses sharply.  If you are in need of formal attire please speak with our teacher representative of the Finishing Touch Grad Society, Mrs. Thiemann (tracey.thiemann@gppsd.ab.ca).  This offer extends to guests as well as grads.

How Should Grads Dress?
During the commencement ceremony students will be wearing black grad gowns and caps.  Dress shoes should be worn to match the formality of the event.  During the grand march most students get dressed up in formal suits or dresses.  Some choose to match their outfit the decorating theme.  If you are in need of formal attire please speak with our teacher representative of the FinishingTouch Grad Society, Mrs. Thiemann (tracey.thiemann@gppsd.ab.ca).

How can I Find Out More Information?
